So there’s good and bad news. Bad news is the time you spend being sick and battling chronic ailments can shorten your life expectancy.

The good news is you’re likely to live longer than your ancestors did since overall, global life expectancy has risen. Instead of measuring life as a unit, we should measure how we live it, counting the years spent living free of disease and disability. A healthy lifestyle increases life expectancy by up to seven years! That’s seven years of good health, actually enjoying quality of life.
